Titular Honorifics : திரு Thiru / செல்வன் Selvan / செல்வி Selvi

So today I'll teach about tamil honorifics,

திரு ( Thiru ) can be easily found as a honorific prefix to adult males in tamil nadu , in english it can be translated as '' MR '' . The Another meaning for திரு is '' Holy '' or '' Sacred '' used in hindu gods and goddesses name,such as : திருமால் ( Thirumaal ) - MahaVishnu and திருமகள் ( Thirumakal ) - Lakshmi.

திரு can be seen in the start of many city names,such as : Thirunelveli, Thirupathi ,Thiruvannamalai...the list is countless.



செல்வி / Selvi stand for miss and செல்வன் / Selvan for master but used only for unmarried people.
